The East Side Gallery is a mile-long stretch of the Berlin Wall that still stands today, covered in art that has been painted since the fall of the wall.

The wall divided the city during the Cold War but the gallery, on the banks of the Spree, features paintings and artwork that reflect the celebratory mood as the wall came down and Germany was reunified.

Explore for yourself or book a guided tour before you fly to Germany for a more detailed insight into the wall’s history. There are also plaques in remnants of the wall across the city, as well as many other tangible reminders of the Cold War.
