Major Airports in Malaysia

International flights depart from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL), located at Sepang, just 60km from the capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. The passenger terminal contains a hotel and multiple shopping areas. Most of the international flights are handled through the Satellite terminal within the complex, which boasts a gorgeous jungle boardwalk, complete with waterfall and greenery.

Penang International Airport (PEN) serves the city of George Town. Despite being described as one of the busiest airports in the country, travellers will typically find that it is not over crowded.

Airport Transportation in Malaysia

You can take a KLIA Express train to Kuala Lumpur Airport in 28 minutes from Kuala Lumpur. A taxi to Kuala Lumpur airport is another option, but you must pre-purchase a ticket at the Arrival Level. There are also bus lines with routes to the airport.

A bus to Penang Airport takes about 1 hour and it is provided by Rapid Penang through 3 bus routes: 401E, 306, and 102. By taxi, the trip is about 45 minutes.
