Major Airports in Myanmar

The main airport in Myanmar is Mandalay International Airport (MDL) and is located 35km away from the city centre of Mandalay. It is a modern airport with the capacity to receive three million travellers annually. The second international airport, Yangon International Airport (RGN), is 15km from the city centre of Rangoon.

Airport Transportation in Myanmar

You can take a bus to Mandalay International Airport if you want to be economical and have plenty of time to spare. There is no train to Mandalay International Airport, but it is usually best to take a taxi to Mandalay International Airport, at a reasonable cost.

There is also a bus to Yangon International Airport, which takes about 30 minutes. The best option, however, is to take a taxi to Yangon International Airport or to contact the hotel where you will be staying to inquire about the availability of their free shuttle services to and from the airport. At present, there are no trains to Yangon International Airport.
