Major Airports in Senegal

Senegal’s main and only major international airport is located in the capital: Dakar-Yoff-Léopold Sédar Senghor International Airport (DKR). Renamed in 1996 for the first president of Senegal, it serves upwards of 1.5 million travellers a year and is often used as a stopover point for flights to South Africa as well as having served historically as an important cargo depot.

Airport Transportation in Senegal

Taxis to Dakar International Airport should be readily available throughout the city and will take around 20 minutes, though it is important to be careful to use a trustworthy service. This shouldn’t be too expensive and can even be bargained down to a lower price. Cost and travel time will vary based on what part of the city you are staying in. There are also bus links to Dakar International Airport from the city centre, which leave regularly and should take no more than an hour. At the present time there is no train to Dakar International Airport.
