Major Airports in Luang Prabang

The region is served by Luang Prabang International Airport (LPQ), located 4 km from the centre of the city. This small airport caters for both domestic and international flights and has recently undergone refurbishment. As you take off, you can admire the beautiful mountainous views from the aircraft. There are useful facilities within the airport, such as a restaurant, phone booth and post office.

Airport Transportation in Luang Prabang

A bus to Luang Prabang International Airport is available using the north bus terminal. However, local agents can arrange a taxi to Luang Prabang Airport, or alternatively minivan hire is available at competitive rates. Near the south station, an additional minivan service is available.

Due to the mountainous landscape, there is no train to Luang Prabang Airport and travellers should be aware that local weather and land conditions can affect road travel. The journey time from the city to the airport is around 10-15 minutes but can be disrupted.
