Major Airports in Seoul

Of the three major airports in Seoul, Incheon International Airport, ICN, is the largest. Known as one of the busiest airports on the planet, it is located 48 km, or 30 miles, west of the city. It is also the eighth busiest airport on the planet.

ICN features its own golf course, ice skating rink, casino, spa and duty free shopping, as well as the Museum of Korean Culture. Flying out of Seoul is rather fast and efficient. In fact, the airport claims to have a 0.0001% baggage mishandling rate. Incheon International Airport opened in 2001, replacing Gimpo International Airport as the city’s biggest airport.

Gimpo International Airport, GMP, is located, 15 km, or 9 miles, west of Central Seoul. GMP still feaurues flights from Seoul to China, Japan and Taiwan. Finally, there is the Seoul Airbase. However, the military facility may not be what you are looking for when traveling out of Seoul.

Airport Transportation in Seoul

A person now has his or her options when it comes to traveling from Downtown Seoul to Incheon International Airport. The Airport Railroad Express (AREX) subway may be the most efficient. A passenger can get from the metro area to the airport is 43 minutes. There is also the Seoul Metropolitan Subway. However, it is not as fast as AREX. Airport Limousine Buses can always get you to the airport, even if it takes a bit more time than the subway. Lastly, taxis are always convenient, even if they will end up costing you a pretty penny. At least you can negotiate your price to the airport beforehand.
