Major Airports in Finland

In Helsinki, flights depart from the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (HEL) which acts as the main international airport for Finland. Initially constructed for the 1952 Summer Olympics, there are children’s rooms, free Wi-Fi is available at any time and you can pick up a good read for the flight at the book swap. Flights from Oulu take off from Oulu Airport (OUL). It is the second busiest airport in Finland after Helsinki-Vantaa Airport in terms of passenger load. Oulu Airport has some of the best disabled facilities around.

Airport Transportation in Finland

In Helsinki, the regional bus to Helsinki-Vantaa Airport leaves from the Central Railway Station every 15 minutes and takes around 40 minutes. A taxi to Helsinki Airport is another option and you can expect a 25 minute journey.

A taxi to Oulu Airport should be arranged at least two hours in advance in order to avoid disappointment. A bus to Oulu Airport from the city centre is available. Unfortunately, as with Helsinki Airport, there are no trains to Oulu Airport.
