Major Airports in Portugal

In Lisbon, the capital city of Portugal, international flights depart from the Portela Airport (LIS). There are two passenger terminals; Terminal 1 is located in the main building and handles international flights and arrivals, and, to the south, Terminal 2 serves departures for domestic flights only. Parking is available next to Terminal 1 with a shuttle service operating between the two.

Flights from the Algarve region depart from Faro International Airport (FAO). This airport has a single terminal with a wide range of amenities including ATMs, currency exchange booth, and post office. Shops offer leather goods, sunglasses, and locally made handicrafts.

Airport Transportation in Portugal

The Aerobus service offers regular connections between Portela Airport and central points in the city. The bus to Portela Airport from Lisbon city centre takes about 20 minutes. There is no train to Portela Airport.

Getting a taxi to Faro Airport is the best option with the airport located approximately 4 km from Faro City Centre (10 minutes). Taxies in Faro are convenient and affordable, and have some of the lowest fares in the country.
