Arriving in Istanbul

Book your flights to Istanbul with Etihad Airways and journey to a land of spice and culture. Istanbul is one of the most historically important cities in the world; explore its epic history.

Plan Your Istanbul Holiday

Travel to Istanbul is akin to stepping into a time machine and going on a historical tour through the great empires of the past. You would come to Istanbul as Byzantium and then again as Constantinople and then yet again as the modern day Istanbul. The Roman Empire, The Ottoman Empire, the Byzantine Empire and the Latin Empire all called this beautiful city between the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea their capital. An intricate part of the infamous Silk Road, this city has been draped in mystic and teeming with a meshing of cultures since 660 BC.

The summer sees a massive influx of tourists to Istanbul. If you are coming between July and September be sure to book your tickets to Istanbul as early as possible. Cheap hotels in Istanbul are easily found during the winter months as the temperature can drop to around freezing and the tourists stay home. Flight deals to Istanbul can be found in our Deals section.

Major Airports in Kota Kinabalu

Kota Kinabalu International Airport (BKI) is located to the southwest of the city, just 8 km from the city centre. It’s the second largest airport in the country, only surpassed by Kuala Lumpur Airport. Each year an average of six million passengers pass through its facilities and an expansion is underway that will increase its capacity.

Airport Transportation in Kota Kinabalu

There are two ways to take a bus to Kota Kinabalu International Airport. One is from south station and the other is from the north station. There are also minibuses: No.16 goes to Terminal 1 and No.17 goes to Terminal 2. Both routes depart from the Wawasan station, but have irregular hours and end in the early afternoon. For this reason, the best alternative is to take a taxi to Kota Kinabalu International Airport. It is worth noting that at the moment there is no train to Kota Kinabalu International Airport.

Choose Etihad Airways, the National Airline of the United Arab Emirates, for flights from Kota Kinabalu to Istanbul on which you will be travelling in comfort and style.
