Major Airports in Birmingham

Birmingham International Airport (BHX) is located to the southeast of the city, just 10 km away. It handles nearly ten million passengers annually, and future plans include an extension that will allow an increase in capacity and extra features.

Airport Transportation in Birmingham

The airport is well connected with the city. You can take a train to Birmingham International Airport, which takes between 10 and 15 minutes. The train departs every 10 minutes from the Birmingham New Street station. From the rest of the country, trains arrive at the international station, and from there a free Air-Rail Link system takes you the rest of the way to the airport.

Alternatively, you can take a bus to Birmingham International Airport. There are currently different lines departing from key locations throughout the city, some of them offering 24-hour service. Finally, a more comfortable and faster alternative is to take a taxi to Birmingham International Airport.
