Major Airports In Romania

By far the most prominent airport in Romania is Henri Coanda International Airport (OTP), which as of 2012 recorded over 7 million passengers annually. Used as an airbase by the German air force in 1965, Henri Coanda International Airport was not originally Romania’s primary commercial airliner hub. However, a massive runway extension in 1965 of up to 3,500 metres, the longest in Europe at that time, secured its position as Romania’s premier international travel centre.

Airport Transportation In Romania

Located a modest 16km from the centre of Bucharest, journeys to the airport are quick and convenient. You can catch a train to Henri Coanda International Airport from Bucharest’s main railway station, Gara de Nord. Be sure to allow approximately 30 minutes for the journey. A bus to Henri Coanda International Airport is also available at the Gara de Nord railway station. A taxi to Henri Coanda International Airport can be hailed at the railway station as well, though this may not be the most economical option available to travellers.
