Major Airports in Auckland

Auckland Airport (AKL) is your gateway to New Zealand. It is the largest airport in the country and serves over 14 million passengers each year. It is located 13 miles outside of the city centre. The airport has several shops including a confectionary shop, duty free shop, toy store, souvenir shop and an electronics store among others. The terminals also have several dining options both pre and post security including fast food and cafe options as well as full service dining. Wifi is available throughout the airport as are currency exchange options.

Airport Transportation in Auckland

There is currently no direct connection by train to Auckland Airport. You can take a bus to Auckland Airport from the Downtown Ferry Terminal in the city centre. The bus runs 24 hours a day and the trip takes about 50 minutes. If you are in need of greater flexibility or perhaps some extra trunk space for your belongings taking a taxi to Auckland Airport is another option. Taxis are widely available throughout the greater Auckland area.
