Major Airports in Kalimantan

Sepinggan Airport (BPN) is located about 5km to the east of the city of Balikpapan. It is a unique facility that reflects the local architecture and offers modern and functional services. It is currently the busiest airport in Borneo, with an average of 5.5 million passengers a year.

Airport Transportation in Kalimantan

The primary mode of transportation on the island is minibuses, which are quick and inexpensive. However, due to their irregular schedules, a better alternative, if you are in a hurry or have a lot of luggage, is to take a taxi to Sepinggan Airport. 

At present, there is no train to Sepinggan Airport, but you can always take a public bus. From cities such as Samarinda, Bontang, Sangatta, and Kalimantan itself, there are various bus lines to Sepinggan Airport that have relatively regular schedules.
