Major Airports in Ireland

Ireland features four international airports and seven regional airports, though the relatively modest size of the Isle limits the need for domestic air travel. Of Ireland’s approximately 4.5 million inhabitants, roughly a third live within the city of Dublin and the surrounding areas, so it comes as no surprise that Dublin Airport (DUB) is the primary airport for international and domestic air travel. Opened in 1940, Dublin Airport’s two terminals service in excess of 19 million passengers each year.

Airport Transportation in Ireland

Dublin Airport is located just 10 kilometres from Dublin city centre, and is serviced by over 1,000 buses and coaches each day. Travellers can take the bus to Dublin Airport and into the city for a modest ticket price. The trip takes approximately half an hour, depending on traffic. A taxi to Dublin Airport is also available, though at greater cost with no real change in travel time. At the present time, there are no direct trains to Dublin Airport.
